Money, Desire, and Abundance

You look at your balance and feel that something is off. Not only the number, but the sense that you're not supposed to ask for more. According to Gili, that block usually isn't really about money at all. It's about worthiness, and the way she sees it, it starts back in the relationship with your mother. As she reads it, the Hebrew word for money, kesef, is connected to kisufim, longing and wanting, and she suggests looking at money blocks through one more question: how much do we allow ourselves to ask, to receive and to enjoy? Instead of abundance mantras she offers something simpler. Look at your balance even when it hurts, and turn every expense into an insight about what you got in return.

Can You Bend Reality?

You react to the same kind of event over and over, and it feels like life is just happening to you and you have no say in it. Gili takes a different approach: every event, even the hardest one, is a reflection of a belief sitting inside you, and the opportunity is to clear it, not just to react to it. There's no need to wait for life to prove to you that you deserve something good before you believe it. Belief comes before reality, not the other way around. And the way she sees it, this isn't only on the emotional level: she explains that your thoughts and your feelings reach all the way down to the body's chemistry, and affect what actually happens to you.

Creating Reality: The Director's Cut

The same reaction again, the same people again, the same feeling again that something is repeating itself. Gili argues that this is no accident. The way she sees it, what happens outside is a reflection of what has been planted inside, and as long as you don't treat the root, nothing really changes. Right now in particular, she says, there's a rare window of time in which the harsh judgments can be sweetened, which is why, when something painful comes back around, the smartest thing you can do is hold yourself back and not react. It may sound like a small thing, but she believes it's one of the most meaningful things a person can do for themselves.

Every End Is a New Beginning

Why you're waiting to feel strong before you move

You know something has to change, and you aren't moving. Not because you don't have the strength, but because something inside you is afraid. Gili says nobody changes until they change what's going on inside. As long as your surroundings are running your thoughts, nothing really moves. And even when a door closes and it looks like the end, another door is waiting behind it.

Create Your Reality

It hurts right now. It really hurts, and sometimes it seems as if the world outside has turned as ugly as whatever is going on inside. It is tempting to want to run away from it, but the way Gili sees it, a time like this is exactly when we have to come back to ourselves again and again. Here she takes apart the saying that there is nothing more whole than a broken heart, and in her words the real break is not in what other people did to us, but in realizing that we created this reality ourselves.

Hocus Pocus: Staying Focused and Keeping the Faith

Everything around you feels blurry, it isn't clear where any of it is going, and it's hard to find something steady to hold on to. Gili explains that in a period like this, faith is one of the strongest healing tools there is, whatever a person's level of religious observance. A scattered soul is the most dangerous opposite of concentration, and the moment doubt gets in is exactly the moment you lose your focus. And sometimes the hardest question is whether you're even allowed to feel joy when there's this much pain all around.

Use Your Influence for Good

You act out of habit, out of an old pattern that doesn't really serve you anymore, and only afterward do you notice that's what happened. Gili distinguishes between action that comes out of memory and constraints from the past, and action that comes out of real inspiration and is open to new things. The way she sees it, a broken heart is an inner clearing process that leads to insight, not a sign that something has ended, and that's also where the name The Truth Hurts comes from. Toward the end she gives a few practical tools: how to judge people favorably, how to stay out of gossip, and how to give other people exactly what you're missing yourself.

Do Our Thoughts Really Create Reality?

If something you read or heard lately really set you off, it probably touched something real. Indifference, not anger, is the sign that something isn't really connected to you, the way Gili puts it. She also has a practical tip for the moment before you fall asleep: what you feed your brain in those minutes decides how you'll wake up in the morning. And before you hit play on a meditation you found online, it's worth checking who's behind it, because you end up absorbing the energy of the person delivering it, not only the words.

Thought Creates Reality

The same thoughts come up all day and you're sure they're yours

You don't really choose every thought that runs through your head. Somewhere between 60,000 and 70,000 thoughts pass through us in a single day, and from what Gili lays out here, most of them aren't ours. They're an old memory trying to come back, or worry about something that hasn't happened yet. Who is running that thought, and how do you know whether it belongs to you? The question gets both a scientific backdrop here and an explanation from the Hasidic world. And at least one of them offers a practical answer: stop stating facts and start asking questions.
